It was rape in every sense. By law, the child was too young to have had "consentual" sex even if she wasn't drugged. Since she was drugged, it wasn't "consentual" in any meaning of the word. Roman Polanski took the child's ability to choose away from her the same as any other rapist uses force to do it.

The victim also repeatedly said "no" during the attack itself so it was forcible rape even aside from the drugging and underage aspects. The prosecutor agreed to plea down to statutory rape to spare her the ordeal of testifying in open court.

Word! I believe the statute of limitations on rape is 5 years, so maybe she will come to her senses and finally put that sick jerk in jail where he belongs.

Bystanders watched and did nothing. Like it or not, fiction does affect how people behave. Every time a rape is trivialized on tv or in a movie, the public is further desensitized.

I had nightmares after that episode when EJ raped Sami..i cant belive how some people think that wasn't a rape when it was100% rape...:( and i cant belive how the writers have forgot how it really happend...we should remind them and let them know it was a rape and this is not romance...

And all the scenes after it when he played with Lucas and Sami as if they were mice trapped in a cage. It was absolutely disgusting and people now root for Sami and EJ. Enough to make my skin crawl.

Sami should have killed him just like celeste told her to do...Or Sami should do the same thing to EJ as she did to Alan after he raped her...

I am so angry that this show promotes the rape into romance I could scream.

A little dose of reality. I attended a community meeting today regarding violence (as you all know I am working with teens regarding the gang rape of the Richmond High girl) and what we need to do to help our kids. After the meeting I went to lunch with a group of adults who have formed a foundation to help troubled youth. These are ex-gang members who have found their way and are now participating in stopping the violence. I was talking to some of the guys and they told me that tv, music and videos have a very strong influence on what they did and what the kids do now. They know because they would pump themselves up before going out and doing harm by listening to the music and playing those awful videos.

So when I hear people on other threads and lines talking about this is only a show, I get very angry and I so wish I could grab them into my world to open their eyes. But then again I don't know why I would bother, they are part of the problem.

You continue to promote violence, you desensitize people, and the acts just get easier to commit. But then again this might be hard for some people to understand if you don't live it every day.

I have vented.

Wow Tammy...Norma had a great idea. If Greg Meng was so impressed by a Time magazine article about the condition of Detroit why shouldn't he care about something that happens on the soap he produces and something as horrific as rape.

My biggest problem with the way the story was written from the get go was the EVERYONE said it was rape, it was written as rape, it was acted as rape, EJ had a weapon and displayed it and threated Sami with it moments before the rape occurred. The producers, writers, actors and characters ALL called it rape. It was in the mags as a rape. After it occurred they allowed and kept writting Sami as being constantly subjected to the rapist, constantly manipulated by the rapist and constantly in fear of the rapist, but slowly they attempted to change that by having her willingly see him during the vendetta storyline. She would lie to Lucas and say she wasn't going and then write him a letter saying she'd gone to see Stefano with EJ. What rape victim would ever go there....it's sooo disturbing what occurred then but EVEN more disturbing is the fact that they FORGOT it ever happened and they don't mention it anymore while mentioning other things that have happened years before the rape occurred. For example when Sami was giving Rafe her life's synopsis..she mentioned death row, the Stan thing and she conveniently forgot to mention how her twins have TWO fathers? You know why? Because IF Rafe ever found out he'd go bonkers knowing she willingly slept with that same man after he raped her....maybe that is how they'll finally deal with the rape once and for all when Rafe finds out and pushes Sami aside and Lucas is there to support her. That would be the ONLY silver lining I can see and the way to finally end years of crappy writing.
