The characters belong to Corday/NBC/Days of Our Lives. The story is all mine. Author: Luvinglumi Rating: PG-13 Permission for 2C to archive The previous chapters of this fic are on this same PG-13 and under thread. Total Darkness (Chapter 3) “Son, come here I have news for you.” “Yes.” “Well you told me to find out where your brother was and I’ve had my men track him down. He is at the Clearmount School for the Blind, it’s actually only an hour’s drive out of Salem.” “Wow, he’s that close?” “Yes, he is. Actually normal visiting hours are from 3pm to 10pm but I’ve made arrangements with them to allow up to two people before 3pm. That way you can avoid your mother as I know that she has done her best to keep you in the dark about Lucas’ whereabouts.” “Thanks, you don’t know how much I appreciate this.” “I hear he might be released from the facility soon and placed in a transitional facility for a few months until he is ready to live on his own.” “Good, I’ll go see him at Clearmount before he’s released. Thanks again!” Philip left the Kiriakis mansion and placed a call to Sami. “Hello.” “Hi, can I please speak to Sami?” “Sure, who’s calling?” “Oh, it’s Philip.” “Oh, hi Philip, it’s Rafe, how are you doing?” “I’m okay how about you?” “Fine, here is Sami.” “Hello.” “Hi, listen I got news on where Lucas is. My dad’s men tracked him down and we can go see him every day before 3pm. Are you available tomorrow?” “Yes, count me in. What time?” “Maybe we should leave at around 11am, as it’s about an hour’s drive out of Salem.” “Perfect, I’ll be ready then.” “Good I’ll be there at 11 sharp.” “Thank you so much Philip, you don’t know how much this means to me.” “I know Sami, I know.” “Do you think it’s a good idea to bring Allie or Will?” “Actually maybe tomorrow should just be you without the kids.” “Okay, I’ll be ready at eleven. See you then.” Sami hung up the phone and looked up only to see Rafe staring at her. “What was that all about?” “That was Philip, they found where Lucas is and I’m going to go see him.” “Sami, I thought you told me he didn’t remember you? He doesn’t even remember you are Will’s mother. Why would you want to go there and subject yourself to that torture?” “It’s not torture Rafe, I need to see if speaking to him or hearing my voice helps him. He awoke from the coma practically because I said something to him. At least that is what I think. I think something I said hit home and the monitors starting chirping and the next day he was out of his coma.” “That is silly Sami, what could you possibly have said to wake him up from the coma he’d been in for months.” “I told him I loved him.” “What? Is that true? Did you really mean that?” Sami got a bit nervous as she had clearly given it away in her face that she still felt something very deep in her heart for Lucas. But she would play it off perfectly as she was still good at lying to those that truly didn't know her. “Don’t be silly, I only said that because I wanted him out of the coma. Rafe, he is the father of my kids, I don’t want them to grow up without a dad you know.” “Sami, I love your children as if they were my own, you know that.” “Yes, I do, but you are not Will and Allie’s father, Lucas is and there is nothing I would rather do than have his memory come back because he needs to remember how much he loves them. After what I put Lucas through with Will, I would never ever keep another one of his kids away from him, it’s not right.” Rafe understood and the conversation ended with the thought that she would never want to harm Lucas like she did before. Sami knew it and she needed to have Rafe realize that too much had gone on between her and Lucas and he’d been hurt to much for her to hurt him further. She wanted to help him remember who he was even if some parts of those memories would prove to be painful. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Emily walked into Lucas’ room and patted him on the shoulder. “Hello there Lucas.” “Hi, Emily, you are here early today.” “Yes, I am we have some intensive therapy today, any more visions? Memories?” “No, just the bright blue eyes and the fair skinned blonde woman I spoke to you about? Are you sure that you don’t have blonde hair and blue eyes?” “No I don’t have blue eyes Lucas, my eyes are brown, but I do have dirty blonde wavy hair and very fair skin as I stated to you before.” “Maybe I’ve seen you before? Maybe a few years back? Did you ever live in Salem? Maybe we dated a while ago or something?” Emily chuckled, she was taken aback by Lucas’ sureness about himself, the fact that he was flirting with her struck as odd, but then again she did like it especially when it came from such a handsome man. “Listen casanova, I did live in Salem but If I had ever met you I would have definitely remembered you, not to mention if we had dated.” “Oh, you would have remembered me, ha? Why? Is it my good looks, or maybe my charm?” Lucas winked and moved his head to where the sound of her voice was coming from and cracked a huge smile. Emily stopped and jokingly answered, “Wow, there is really no way to dent your ego is there?” Just then another memory crashed into Lucas’ mind. It was only a snippet but it was enough for him to capture that beautiful blonde woman again supposedly fighting with him about something and she uttered the words that Emily had just uttered, “is there no way to dent your ego?” These quick visions of what appeared to be his past were torturing Lucas. He needed to know who this woman was. He knew she was a very important part of his life and he needed to remember who she was. That last visionary memory bought something back to him. They were fighting, he was screaming and she was screaming. Maybe they were enemies? Lucas kept thinking to himself, ‘If that is the case then why do I seem to care so much about her? There has to be something else. She is someone I had a past with, my wife or fiancée or maybe even the mother of my son, she is important to me, I just feel it, there IS a connection with this woman, if I could only remember what that is it would be ideal.’ -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Philip arrived the next morning at the School for the Blind. He approached the front desk and told them who he was and that he had been instructed to ask for Mr. Kiriakis' arrangement. The receptionist handed him the two passes and instructed them to go to the waiting room and wait for someone to pick them up and take them to where Lucas was. Sami was anxious and Philip could tell by her figgeting that she couldn’t wait. “Calm down, you are going to give yourself a coronary even before you see Lucas.” “This anticipation kills me. I haven’t seen him in a long time and even when I was seeing him daily I was talking to the wall basically. He wouldn’t answer me, he wouldn’t look at me, he was there. I don’t know how I will take it when I see he doesn’t remember me.” “Well you never know if your voice will bring him back to reality, at least memory wise.” “The thought of seeing those beautiful chocolate brown eyes and they won’t be able to focus on me, is hard to think about.” “Sami, you haven’t gotten over Lucas have you?” Sami stammered but the truth was written all over her face. She didn’t want to admit it to Philip but she thought what would it do anyway? Lucas doesn’t remember her regardless of how she feels. “Philip, he is the father of two of my kids and I don’t want him not to remember them.” “But it hurts you that he doesn’t remember either you either right?” “It’s as if he was blocking all the good years, I know we had some rollercoaster rides during that time, but we were happy for a while, we got married, the twins were born.” Just then someone approached the waiting area. “Hello, you must be Lucas’ guests.” Sami eyed the woman and nodded affirmatively. “Please follow me.” Sami scoped her out and started a bit of small talk with her. “Hi, I’m Sami, what is your name?” “I’m Emilia, the majority of the people call me Emily.” “So you are Lucas’ nurse?” “No, actually I’m more than his nurse, I’m his aide and I’ll be visiting him on a daily basis as long as he needs my help. While here at the center, it is my job to teach him how to live as a blind person, but when he’s released from here he’ll spend a few weeks in a transitional facility where Ill be sort of living with him and then he gets released.” Sami stopped at the thought of this woman living with Lucas. Surely she couldn’t be serious, she was a professional and that couldn’t be allowed. “Living with him?” Sami stated in a rather shocking voice. "It's part of my job, it's what I do. I help those that need my help in every way I can." Sami didn't like this woman, she knew from the start, but it wasn't about who she was. Sami was jealous of Emily and Emily could tell by the way Sami was looking at her. Upon further looking at Sami, Emily noticed that Sami had to be the woman that Lucas was having flashbacks about. She was fair skinned with blonde hair and striking blue eyes. This had to be the person that he saw and it killed him to not remember who she was. Emily had to find out one way or another who this person was to Lucas. She played right into Sami’s jealous side too so she commenced by asking a rather simple question? “How do you both know Lucas?” Philip spoke up immediately and responded that he was Lucas’ younger brother. When it was Sami’s turn Emily focused her attention on her. She wanted to read her body language and try to figure out who she was. “I’m Sami Brady, I’m the love of Lucas’ life. I’m his ex-wife and the mother of his kids, he has two children and I am their mother.” Emily was startled at Sami’s frankness and she was actually really surprised by how sure she sounded when she said, “I’m the love of Lucas’ life.” As if she knew that for a fact without a question in the world. “Well I’ll tell you both that his memory is spotty. I am not sure if you’ve been made aware but he seems to not remember much after 2002. He has had some very lucid flashbacks lately and Ms. Brady I think you’ll be happy to know that I believe by the description of what he tells me he is seeing, I believe he is describing every facial feature I see in you now. He is most definitely starting to remember your physical attributes if nothing else.” Sami felt relief and she was a bit surprised with that news. She figured it would only be a matter of time before it happened and she was glad that something was triggering his memory again. Emily, Sami and Philip turned the hallway corner and Emily proceeded to open the door to Lucas room. “Lucas, I have some visitors for you this morning.” Lucas was sitting on a large comfy armchair and he proceeded to shift his face toward the sound of Emily’s voice. Immediately Sami noticed him and was dying to take a look at his eyes again, even if he couldn’t see her she knew he could feel her presence if nothing else. “Hey bro, how are you doing? Feeling better?” Philip stating while Lucas proceeded to get up off his chair to give him a brotherly hug. “Philip, man it’s great you are here. Who is with you? Mom?” “No, in case you haven’t noticed Lucas, I haven’t been here before because Mom doesn’t want to tell me where you were relocated after you woke up from your coma.” “Why the heck would she do that?” “Well, I think I know the reason and she is standing right next to me.” Just then Sami began speaking and Emily couldn’t help but notice how emotional Sami at simply just uttering Lucas’ name. Lucas in turn looked over to where her voice was coming from and tried his best to remember her voice. “Lucas, it’s Sami. I’ve been told you don’t remember me and it breaks my heart. Lucas the last time I saw you was when you were still in a coma. I went to see you every night after your accident, I spoke with you, I reministed about our life. I played music, spoke to you about our children.” “Children? I only have one son named Will.” Just then Philip suggested that Lucas and Sami be left alone and he proceeded to have Emily walk him out of the room to get a cup of coffee. Lucas and Sami continued their conversation. She moved in closer to him and pulled another chair. He sat back down into his arm chair and buried his face in his hands. He stretched his figures through his hair and pushed it out of the way with a frustration that Sami could see all over his face. “Lucas, I am your ex-wife. I’ve known you since we were teenagers. You and I were best friends, then our relationship took a bad turn but then we had some of the best years of my life while with you. I am Will’s mother and Allie’s mother and they are both your children.” Lucas couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He had another child, a girl. “How old is Allie?” “She is four and she loves and misses you so much.” “Was I around? Did I lose time with her? It’s so freaking frustrating not remembering anything. I basically have to trust a total stranger with this information.” “I’m not a stranger Lucas, I’m part of you and there will come a time when you will remember me, don’t worry, it’ll come and to answer your question you've been around Allie a lot before your accident, but you missed a few months early on, but I don't think we should talk about that at least not now.” Lucas' frustration grew, he wanted to believe her and then he didn’t want to imagine the thought of not remembering that he had fathered two children with this woman. Who was she? Was she the mysterious blonde haired blue eyed woman he kept on seeing in his visualizations? Just then he felt a need to touch her face and see if it would trigger another memory. He needed something, anything at this point, but what he longed for was having a vision of his daughter. If it was true he had one, he couldn’t imagine living his life without at least remembering what she looked like now that he apparently wouldn't see her grow up. “Can I ask you something?” “Sure Lucas, go right ahead.” “I do this exercise that Emily taught me to help me visualize the people I don’t know.” “But, you know me.” “Listen, I know you say I know you and I don’t doubt I do, but I don’t remember you. I don’t remember what you look like and I don’t remember anything about my daughter. I need to see if performing this exercise will trigger a memory of either her or you, please.” “Sure Lucas, do whatever you need to do.” “Okay scoot over closer to me.” With those words Sami moved in closer to Lucas and she had her chair budding up against his leg and her right knee was pushing in between his legs. Lucas began by taking his hands and running them along her face just as he had done to Emily. Sami kept looking at him wanting his beautiful brown eyes to look back at her. She wanted to see life again in them and it hurt so much that she couldn’t see that but she couldn’t even get past the fact that he didn’t remember her. As Lucas ran his fingers through her different facial features he stopped and asked her, “What color are your eyes?” “Blue” “I knew it, you are the person I’ve been having memories about. Is your skin fair? Do you have golden blonde wavy hair that cascades and falls just above your shoulders? Is your skin freckled?” “Yes on the skin, yes on the hair. I think I might know something else that might trigger a memory or two.” Just then something incredible overpowered Sami and she cupped his face in her hands and pulled it closer to her lips. She captured his lips with hers and began to passionately kiss him. She didn’t want to stop, actually it wasn’t only to trigger a memory, she wanted to taste Lucas again, like the good old days. Lucas opened his mouth and was in the full enjoyment of the kiss when his memory did flash back. He remembered discussing with her that he always seemed to be around to pick up the pieces of her life when it fell apart, even when he wanted to leave, he kept getting pulled back then he uttered the word dammit and lunged for Sami’s lips pretty much the same way it felt that she had come in for this kiss today. He remembered kissing her passionately and not wanting to let her go and as the current kiss continued he could feel Sami’s hands wrapping around the nape of his neck and grabbing hold of his hair. She was kissing him as passionately as he remembered kissing her back then. At that very moment the door to his room flung open and Emily and Philip stared wide eyed at Lucas and Sami making out. They didn’t say a word simply looked at each other and looked back at Lucas and Sami. (to be continued) |

That was so wonderful I loved this story and I love that Sami and Lucas are making out I love it. I love that Sami told Philip that she loves Lucas and that she told Rafe this too. I love that Sami is jealous of Emily and that she wants to be the one to be there for Lucas and to help him get through this. I love the make out session most of all and that Lucas is having more flashbacks of Sami and I love that Sami is on his mind and that Lucas is on Sami's mind and that she misses him and that she kissed him and that they both kept kissing each other. That was a truly awesome chapter now there's the Sami we all know and love the real Sami and I love that Sami initiated the kiss and that it turned into a make out session. I can't wait to see what happens in the next chapter. I loved this entire chapter and this story is really awesome and truly rocks I can't wait to read more of this truly wonderful story. I wonder what Sami is going to do to try to keep Emily away from Lucas I can't wait to find out. Is she going to lock her in a closet scheme to keep her occupied in some other way in order to keep her away from the love of her life and to keep her away from her Lucas in any and everyway possible and not let him go ever again. I love that she told Rafe and Philp that she wants to be with Lucas. I can't wait to find out and see what Sami does in order to keep Emily away from Lucas. It's great seeing Casanova Lucas back in the game... toward the end of BD's run on Days, Lucas was so often a drunken object of pity or a dour voice of warning to Sami. I like Emily so far. She's honest and she's good at her job, which puts her way ahead of most Salemites. LOVE Sami's way of triggering Lucas' memory. And it cracks me up that Rafe is dumb enough to buy that Sami doesn't still love Lucas. I have no doubt that that's how that character would react. |

I miss casanova Lucas....I always thought that seeing Lucas with Chloe would drive Sami mad and help her realize that her so called "feelings" for YKW were nothing and seeing Lucas- it would drive her back and have 2 women fighting for Lucas love and affection, but that didn't happen...they had to bring in Rafe and scew that up. I then speculated that they would use Lucas to introduce Emily and they would do it after he came back from rehab...that is where I got the idea for this fic...but now we know they aren't planning that...what a waste....I thought the real Sami would emerge when she saw a woman that truly loved Lucas and if that woman was Emily then it would have worked wonders. I also wanted to see Lucas really torn between his undying love for Sami and his new discovered feelings for this Emily person and her devotion to him. Too bad the writers chose to get rid of Lucas instead of EJ....frankly the end of the baby switch could have killed off EJ and left the door open for the possible-Safe/Lumi quad with Emily. |
